The 13 songs on this album were recorded in Berlin in may 2008, in a temporary makeshift studio in a room at the art-squat Kunsthaus Tacheles. Several musicians came round to participate like Jelte Heringa (Most unpleasant men, Neonbelle), Finn Kruyning (Moss) and Insa Rudolph.

ABOUT

Imagine Nick Drake inviting Jamie Lidell, Eels and Beck over for dinner. Chop Wood is a genre defying solo project by Coparck frontman Odilo Girod. His guitarless debut album is a mix of electronic and acoustic songs written mostly at night due to his sleeplessnes and insomnia. A diverse batch of eclectic atmospheres sparked with sweet caustic electricity, multi layered vocals and insomniatic lyrics. Songs that never sleep.

A debut album was recorded in Berlin in 2008 as part of the in a cabin with project.

In 2009 Chop Wood played 50 live shows at the travelling festival ‘DE PARADE’, did a gig in Moscow, supported Jamie Lidell and hit venues like the Paradiso and the Melkweg in Amsterdam.

2010 will bring a Canadian Tour in May, playing for 10 days at the Dutch OEROL festival, the recordings for a new album and some more special gigs in strange foreign countries. Stay Tuned.

THE BAND

Chop Wood is often live assisted by Finn Kruyning on drums and Jelte Heringa on keys.
